Logistics Operations III
Workday-Aligned Job Description Draft | Kalispell Outbound Logistics
General Profile
Logistics Operations III is an experienced, cross-functional operations role responsible for coordinating
complex outbound shipments, maintaining shipment readiness visibility, supporting SAP WM execution, and
helping implement new logistics functions that improve standardization, traceability, freight planning, shipment
documentation, and operational handoffs across Kalispell outbound operations. The role operates with a
limited degree of supervision, supports colleagues through practical process knowledge, and functions as a key
connector between manufacturing, engineering, order management, freight partners, GIS, and logistics
leadership.
Position Summary
This role owns and coordinates the operational flow required to move customer-facing systems, revenue NSOs,
shipkits, LKPs, parcels, and freight from production readiness through shipment completion and post-shipment
documentation. The position requires strong SAP and logistics process knowledge, proactive risk management,
clear communication, and the ability to translate ambiguous operational inputs into executable shipment plans
and sustainable logistics processes.
Functional Knowledge
• Applies developed proficiency in SAP WM and outbound logistics processes, including delivery notes,
shipment numbers, packing documentation, proforma/commercial invoice support, PGI coordination, and
shipment reversal or exception troubleshooting.
• Maintains shipment readiness data using MPP, Smartsheet, revenue order trackers, shipping calendars,
Q2C uploads, and other shared logistics tools.
• Uses transportation management, freight quoting, and logistics planning processes for freight and parcels,
including systems, NSOs, MMS, and other oversized or international shipments.
• Understands crating, toting, NSSC, Ship Services, bill(s)-of-material, packing lists, and freight-forwarder
dependencies well enough to identify gaps before shipment execution.
• Supports weekly shipment reviews, scrum updates, and cross-functional readiness discussions by
maintaining current shipment status, risk, and document visibility.
Business Expertise
• Understands how outbound logistics integrates with production control, manufacturing engineering,
planning, order management, business management, GIS, freight forwarding, TransPak (crating), and
customer-facing shipment commitments.
• Recognizes the operational impact of late floor completions, missing components, unresolved bill-ofmaterial or packing-list gaps, incomplete freight planning inputs, and process disconnects between
production, logistics, and transportation systems.
• Uses operational knowledge to help Kalispell align with broader Applied Materials logistics standards
through implementation of new logistics functions, standardized shipment documentation, improved
system readiness, and stronger shipment traceability.
• Balances customer commit dates, packing/crating readiness, freight carrier availability, cost, transit time,
and escalation risk when coordinating shipments.
Leadership
• Acts as a resource for team members and cross-functional partners by explaining logistics requirements,
SAP constraints, shipment priorities, and system/process expectations.
• Leads or coordinates logistics improvement workstreams such as new logistics function implementation,
transportation system readiness, shipment process mapping, hardware and label readiness, data
validation, and outbound capacity/resource planning inputs.
• Frames concerns and risks clearly for leadership so decisions can be made around staffing, space,
workload, crating capacity, shipment prioritization, and implementation readiness.
• Promotes ethical, professional, and quality-focused execution by documenting issues, escalating risks
early, and encouraging process discipline across teams.
Problem Solving
• Provides solutions for atypical or infrequently occurring shipment problems by using SAP history, prior
shipment records, freight-forwarder information, institutional knowledge, and cross-functional contacts.
• Troubleshoots shipment blockers related to billing blocks, delivery notes, SAP WM inventory status,
shipment consolidation, crating readiness, freight-forwarder notification, packing-list accuracy,
label/document generation, and logistics process gaps.
• Identifies process weaknesses where tribal knowledge, delayed production input, missing bill-of-material
data, manual handoffs, or unclear ownership create risk, then proposes structured improvements or
automation opportunities.
• Converts vague shipment issues into actionable next steps, owners, data needs, and escalation paths.
Impact
• Impacts on-time shipment execution, shipping documentation accuracy, customer experience, freight
readiness, and the ability of production and order-management teams to meet commit dates.
• Improves the quality and reliability of outbound operations by maintaining accurate shipment visibility,
supporting documentation controls, and helping reduce single points of failure in manual shipping
processes.
• Supports cost and schedule outcomes by c
